Top ‘o the Evening to you!
This quick edition of Math Monday shares a fun way to practice adding 3 whole numbers with your kiddos.
Out of a shoe box and 3 cups (bottoms cut out), I created an adding machine” for kiddos to practice putting 3 whole numbers together. Glue cups (bottoms cut out) to the box and add addition signs to the cups and an equal sign to the front of the box. The kiddos simply use any manipulative (cubes, buttons, counters, bears, etc.) and add the items into the box to solve addition sentences. In groups they can take turns putting in addend 1,2,and 3, close the box, shake it up to “combine” the numbers and voila!
After teaching and practicing a concept, I love, love, love (did I mention I LOVE!) to follow-up learning with a fun Craftivity to solidify learning and allow for differentiation.
I have created the 3 addend Pot ‘o Gold Addition Packet just for you!
In this Craftivity, kiddos will have the opportunity to choose their own 3 addends for 3 different addition sentences and create a fun Pot ‘o Gold Craft to go along with the learning. Click on the pictures below to check it out in my TPT Store!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
